North Leeds painters,
fifteen years in.

Dave Middleton is the painter-decorator North Leeds keeps recommending — for one reason. He turns up when he says he will, does the prep properly, and leaves your home cleaner than he found it.

About

One pair of hands.
Fifteen years of practice.

Dave's been decorating homes around Chapel Allerton, Roundhay and Moortown since 2010. He works as a sole trader — no labourers, no subcontractors, no gangs of strangers in your house. Just one decorator who treats every job like it's his own.

The reason people in North Leeds keep recommending him is boring, in the best way. The prep gets done. The dust sheets go down. Cut-ins are sharp. The skirting doesn't have a smear of emulsion across it. And on the last day, the house gets a proper clean before he hands the keys back.

From a single feature wall in a Chapel Allerton terrace, to a complete top-to-bottom decoration of a Roundhay semi, you'll get the same care, the same trade-grade paints, and the same finish you'd expect to see in a magazine.

Most-booked service
02

Exterior Painting

Rendered walls, soffits, fascias and masonry. Pressure-wash, full prep, weather-watching, and breathable masonry paints that actually last.

April-October window
03

Wallpapering

Lining paper, feature walls, full rooms, hand-trimmed designer papers. Pattern-matched, properly pasted, no gaps, no peeling seams.

Designer-paper friendly
04

Woodwork & Trim

Skirting, architrave, doors, staircases and window frames. Sanded, knotted, primed, undercoated, two-top-coated. Brush marks on a Dave Middleton job? Not a chance.

Period-property specialist
05

Ceilings & Plaster Prep

Filling, sanding, sealing, stain-blocking, mist-coating fresh plaster. The unglamorous part of the job — done in a way that means the finish coat sits perfectly.

06

Whole-Home Decoration

Project-managed colour schemes across multiple rooms — the way builders' clients and house-movers want it done. One decorator, one quote, one finish from front door to top landing.

Honest reviews, written by neighbours. From Chapel Allerton terraces to Roundhay semis to Alwoodley detached homes.

★★★★★

"Dave painted our entire downstairs — hallway, lounge, kitchen and dining room — and the finish is faultless. Clean cut-ins, no drips, and you'd never have known anyone had been working in the house. Already booked him back for the bedrooms."

Helen W. · Chapel Allerton
★★★★★

"We had a tired Victorian semi in Roundhay that needed a complete refresh. Dave talked us through colours, prepped everything properly (the ceilings were a nightmare) and the result is genuinely magazine-quality. Worth every penny."

Mark R. · Roundhay
★★★★★

"Booked Dave on a recommendation from a neighbour in Moortown and now I'll be recommending him to everyone I know. Polite, punctual, and the woodwork in our hallway looks better than the day the house was built."

Sarah J. · Moortown
★★★★★

"Dave repainted the front of our house — render, soffits, the lot — and dealt with all the prep including some fiddly stain blocking. Took him just under a week and the house looks ten years younger."

Andrew T. · Alwoodley
★★★★★

"Honestly the easiest tradesman experience we've had. Dave gave us a fair quote, started when he said he would, and tidied up every single evening before leaving. Whole upstairs decorated and we couldn't be happier — already passed his number on to half the street."

Questions, Answered

The things we get asked the most.

What paints do you use? +
Trade-grade Dulux, Crown Trade, Farrow & Ball and Little Greene depending on the job and your preference. Where you've already chosen a brand or colour, I'll match exactly. Where you'd like guidance, I'll point you at finishes that suit the room, the light and how hard the surface is going to get used.
Is prep work included in the quote? +
Yes — always. Filling, sanding, caulking, sugar-soaping, stain-blocking and dust-sheeting are all part of the job, never extras tacked on later. The prep is what separates a finish you'll still love in five years from one you'll be touching up next spring.
How long does a typical room take? +
A standard bedroom or sitting room is usually 1.5-2 days including prep, two coats of emulsion, ceiling and woodwork. Larger rooms, high ceilings, heavy filling, wallpaper stripping or stain-blocking can extend that. I'll give you an honest day-count in writing with the quote — not a wildly optimistic guess.
Can you do exterior painting in winter? +
Generally not, no. Exterior masonry needs dry walls and air temperatures above 8-10°C for the paint to cure properly. The reliable window for North Leeds is April through October. If you're booking exterior work for next spring, get in touch over winter — it lets us plan colours and timing properly rather than rushing on the first warm week.
Do you offer colour advice? +
Yes. I'm happy to bring sample pots, walk through colour schemes room-by-room and steer you away from shades that won't sit well in your light. After fifteen years of decorating North Leeds homes, I've got a fair idea of what works in a south-facing Chapel Allerton sitting room versus a darker Roundhay hallway.
How do I get a quote? +
Easiest is a call, text or WhatsApp to 07905 308842, or use the form below. I'll arrange a free 15-minute site visit — usually within the week — measure up, talk through colours, and put a written quote in your inbox within a couple of days.
